Tempo from tap times

Paste the times from anywhere — a stopwatch, a marker list, a video's timecodes — and it does a tapper's arithmetic.

It runs entirely in this browser tab: the file you open is never uploaded, nothing here listens to a microphone, and every result is a file rather than something that plays.

Taps a beat
Two if you tapped on every other beat. A number from 1 to 8.
Show every gap
On or off. Starts on.
Round the answer
A tempo of 119.7 is a tempo of 120 with a wobble in it.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text into the box above, or open a file.
  2. Adjust the settings beside it until the result is what you wanted.
  3. Copy the result, or save it as a file. The result updates as you type.

Questions

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole application is carried as WebAssembly and runs on your own device. There is no server to send anything to, and none of these tools makes a network request while it works.
Why does nothing play?
Because a player would be a second application. Every result is a file to open in whatever you already listen with, and saying so is more honest than drawing a play button that does nothing.
Does the tuner or the metronome use my microphone?
No, and the browser will never ask for one: there is no code here that could use it. The tuner reads a file you open, the tempo tool reads times you type, and the metronome writes a click track.
Which formats can it open?
WAV is read and written whole. MP3, FLAC, Ogg, AAC and AIFF are recognised and described from their headers — the format, the rate, the channels, the length — but their audio is not decoded, and a tool that needs samples says so by name.
