How long a level is safe for, and why two equally loud sources are three decibels louder rather than twice.

Questions

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole application is carried as WebAssembly and runs on your own device. There is no server to send anything to, and none of these tools makes a network request while it works.
Why does nothing play?
Because a player would be a second application. Every result is a file to open in whatever you already listen with, and saying so is more honest than drawing a play button that does nothing.
Does the tuner or the metronome use my microphone?
No, and the browser will never ask for one: there is no code here that could use it. The tuner reads a file you open, the tempo tool reads times you type, and the metronome writes a click track.
Which formats can it open?
WAV is read and written whole. MP3, FLAC, Ogg, AAC and AIFF are recognised and described from their headers β€” the format, the rate, the channels, the length β€” but their audio is not decoded, and a tool that needs samples says so by name.
